Chandeliers

Chandelier by Sea Gull Lighting    Chandeliers have been used for centuries to light up interior areas. Traditionally, the chandelier was an inventive way to light an entire area with a set of eight to twenty four candles that hung from the ceiling to create an efficient light source. Although modern electricity allows us to light the inside of our homes in a more convenient and efficient way, chandeliers are still used in entry ways and dining rooms to add a touch of elegance to the decor.  Of course these chandeliers now are lit with light bulbs instead of candles but the traditional look of the chandelier is still captured.

Starry Night Lights has a variety of chandeliers to suit every preference from traditional to modern. Our chandeliers are so precious, each are handcrafted by artists from around the world. The addition of a chandelier to your dining room can create a special atmosphere for elegant dinner parties or warm up an entry way with old fashioned charm.  The elegant Highlands Chandelier by Seagull Lighting is one of our old fashioned chandeliers that bring together old world charm and modern electricity. It holds nine lights covered by silver silk shades and a unique two tier decorative chandelier with intricate patterns in a Pallodium finish.

For modern tastes, the Eight Light Chandelier from the Limoges Collection by the Justice Design Group, has just the right combination of contemporary art and grace. It comes in four different metal finishes and a number of customized impression options. This chandelier would be the perfect addition to your contemporary dining room set. Another unique design by the Justice Design Group is the Candlearia Collection. This collection takes the comforting glow of candlelight and transforms its entity with electricity. These contemporary chandeliers are accentuated by the candle shaped shades that cover the light bulbs which let just enough light through to light up a room and create a candle lit ambiance full of warmth and charm. The 14 light chandelier is one of our most popular selections and would complement a modern-style living room. The Dakota Candlearia collection is available in a number of different styles and arrangements. Other styles in the collection include wall sconces and vanity lights.

Extravagant chandeliers with many tiers and intricate artwork embossed into the gold and silver finishes are displayed in palaces, castles, mansions and other notable homes. These types of chandeliers set stereotypes for all chandeliers as too fancy or too extravagant for residential homes. However, many of Starry Night Lights’ chandeliers are simply designed with just enough grace and elegance with out being too flashy or extravagant for every day use. Whether your home is modern or traditional, there is a chandelier that will look perfect in one of your rooms. You don’t have to be a king to have a beautiful chandelier!

Yes, one of the things that distinguished chandeliers in the early days was there extravagance. It was necessary then as chandeliers were not merely lightning fixtures but also symbol of status. In the modern times I believe we need more simple and elegant chandeliers. I have seen some wonderful DIY chandeliers also. I am interested in knowing if you guys have any modern outdoor chandeliers as well in your collection.

Chandeliers are a great way to light many larger areas, for sure. They have a style and flare that sets them apart. As for using chandeliers for outdoor lighting, this isn’t an area we’ve really gotten involved in. I suppose if we could find some that met our concerns about addressing light pollution, we’d be happy to offer them. We’ll keep you posted.
